Coming to a Blog Near You!

New things coming to Funky Vintage Kitchen in 2011!

1. Full aprons. I know.....scream! I have been so adamant that I love half aprons so much more. But people keep asking and begging. So I will be making a few. First come first serve. I'll give a heads up here on the blog before they go up for sale. No drag out knocked down punches please. I'll keep them coming slowly but surely. Just remember, as with all my aprons, I limit the number of aprons that I make in the same fabric to keep them fresh and unique. If you see one you like, you better grab it fast!

2. Blooming Charms! Just like the Sweet + Simple Blooming Necklace, but without the chain. That way you can save a little $$ and have a few different blooms in a few different colors. All will slide nicely off and on the chain you originally purchased! I'm also working on different chain lengths. The Blooming Charms will be available in the shop sometime this week. Again, I will give a heads up here first. And, Twitter! My fave. Follow me there if you don't already. I'm @aprilkennedy.

3. Recipe VLOGS! Since my little handmade business started with kitchen items, hence the name Funky Vintage Kitchen, I thought it would be appropriate to share a few recipes here on the blog. But not with picture and notes. With Recipe VLOGS! The first one will be posted this afternoon. Apple Snicker Salad. It is delicious and probably not part of your New Year's diet, but is a great dessert salad to bring to pot lucks. Trust me. Only warning...so far I seem to have Vlogged twice and both are pre-shower, no make-up. Heck the timing was just right. Next time, I'll try to channel Giada a little better and actually get myself ready! Actually a few more Vlogs, in general, will be added too.

4. Funky Vintage Kitchen Spotted! A new series posted randomly. Send me an email at davenapril@aol.com of a picture of you in your Funky Vintage Kitchen item....necklace, earrings, bobbies, aprons, using your cake plate, chalkboard, pillow....any FVK item and I'll post a FVK Spotted Series Post from time to time. If you have a blog, I'll link it back to you! If you don't have a blog, no worries you can still send a picture for this here blog.

5. And lastly, Dear Dave + April. Coming new this year a tender series about love + marriage. Dear Dave + April will be a regular Tuesday post. We have struggled this past year with our marriage. BUT we are committed to each other and we are committed to enjoying a happy marriage and working on it together. On Tuesdays we will share our progress, what we have been doing, the letters to each other that got the tears rolling, and subsequent letters to each other about what's working and what's not working. A little warning, this all just came to be two short weeks ago, so it is fresh and a work in progress, and we hope that sharing our struggles and victories will help other couples recommit to their marriages, recommit to putting each other first!

Now here is where the fun part comes in....we want to hear from you. We want thoughts and questions about marriage, the good and the bad {maybe not the ugly}....addressed to Dear Dave + April. While we are no therapists ourselves, we have been married almost 17 years. We have already had our own ups and downs. Been to marriage counseling and marriage enrichment weekends and have great tools to use. That is what we are using this go around. Those tools we already have, just haven't used in awhile. We would love to weigh in on your issues. Both from the man's point of view and the woman's. We think that addressing not only our own issues but others will help the communication flow and not only strengthen our marriage but hopefully give others some encouragement too. We think it will be fun and we will keep the emails and questions anonymous. Email us davenapril@aol.com and put Dear Dave + April in the subject line. At the end of our own Tuesday post, we will each answer a question submitted with our own thoughts and probably a bit of humor tossed in....because that is how we roll. How we get through some of the tough stuff. We hope you are game for Dear Dave + April. We feel very strongly that we all have much to learn from each other.

So that is what's new for 2011. Sound fun? I think so.

I heart comments! Just one rule that I'm sure your momma taught you...if you don't have anything nice to say...please don't say anything at all!
