The Dove Release!

Here are the pictures and what I shared at the dove release portion of my brother's burial service. It was beautiful and healing and left our family with such a feeling of peace.

"The dove often represents or symbolizes the spirit. Today we have a single dove to release representing Jason’s spirit returning home to his heavenly family.

The dove also represents or symbolizes love and peace. The other doves that we will release today will represent all of our love encircling Jason and all of our prayers for peace.

These doves will join together circling for a while and then return to their home all together…just as we will someday return home to be all together.

Psalms 55: 6 ”And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest”. "

I then asked my mom and dad to come up front and told them that they brought Jason into this world and that it was fitting that they release his dove symbolizing his return back to his Heavenly home. My sister handed them the single dove and then we had Jason's children and the rest of the children there to release the rest of the doves.

Enjoy the pictures. They are courtesy of Sarah Lane Studios and Damion Hamilton Photography. A huge heartfelt thank you to both of them for sharing their time and talents in helping our family capture this very special moment.

  3. I just witnessed my first dove release at a wedding a few weeks ago. :) It was a very freeing feeling, can't really explain it more than that. I can imagine it would feel ten times lighter at a service like Jason's.

I heart comments! Just one rule that I'm sure your momma taught you...if you don't have anything nice to say...please don't say anything at all!
