So far I have had a wonderful Mother's Day. Because my husband knows how much presentation means to me....he took great delight in the presentation of my Mother's Day breakfast which consisted of vanilla yogurt, fresh raspberries and blackberries, and pecan praline granola. I smiled sweetly and recognized the sweet gesture.
Happy Mother's Day to me today meant getting ready for church without nagging or yelling at any family members about being late for church. Nope, when they were still in bed at 8:15, I just kept getting ready. And, at 9:00 when I was ready and no one else was, I smiled and said, with my keys in hand....."see you at church family". I drove there so content with no feelings of resentment or anger. Just happiness to be going to church. They joined me there shortly and all was pleasant.
We are off to spend the day with the important women in my family. Even though it is raining today we will be enjoying, for the first time this spring, Dave's famous Maui Burgers and sweet potato fries. My pick for dinner. I can't wait. My mouth is watering just thinking about a nice thick juicy piece of grilled pineapple on my burger. And, coincidentally, I'm bringing strawberries, sour cream and brown sugar to share for dessert! Happy Mother's Day.
Thanks for the Lickable Spoon link. I would have never found it and I have really enjoyed looking at the recipes. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove the part about leaving for church when no one else is ready. This happened at our house once. I think I got my point across.
ReplyDeleteMakes me worry, sometimes, that when we think we're necessary and without us and our nagging, they wouldn't survive....we stop worrying for a day and crazy enough, they survive.

I don't know if we should relieve ourselves of the stress caused by nagging, or if we should be saddened that indeed, we are just mere mortals. :) I'm happy to hear that your mom's day was great.
