A QUICK CONVERSATION AT OUR HOUSE TODAY.

Kaia - "Mommy, will you teach me how to sew?"

Mommy - "Yea......later."

Daddy - "I know how to sew! Let me show you."

Dave wants to know where some scrap fabric is. I hand him two triangles of the witch fabric. I'm not kidding you, within five minutes he had this sewn up....

Kaia - "What is it?"

Daddy - "A cell phone purse!"

He proudly exclaims that he took "home economics" in 7th grade. Then he and Kaia sit at the sewing machine and he gives her simple instructions. She sews two triangle pieces together!

Blake - "Daddy, can I help you tile the front porch?"

Daddy - "Yep, Blake. Let's go!"

He's such a good daddy!

{He had a job this morning in Petaluma. He stopped at a Petaluma antique store and brought me home two amazing finds. What a surprise. He found the cutest little turquoise ruffled plate and a nice big glass base for my cake plates.}

He's such a good hubby!

{hand model is hubby....I told kaia to hold up her new purse and she said she didn't know how to......hubs says..."here, let me show you!" }

  3. April, such cute crafts you do! I wish I had a crafty bone in my body... but I don't. My daughter loves your blog best because it has fun music and she does a funky dance everytime I check your blog!

    I like your apron, did you use a pattern? I received a new sewing machine last Christmas from my mother in law , but hadn't used it cause I didn't even know how to thread it.... jsut figured it out and learned how to sew little girl's aprons... would love to tackle adult ones. let me know if you used a pattern.,

  7. I am impressed. I failed needlework in the seventh grade and haven't been allowed near a sewing machine since.

  8. Very impressive home ec skills. I vaguely remember something about a pair of "jams" in 7th grade home ec. But that beats anything I could churn out now! How handy for you :)

  21. I saw your blog at the SITS site. How sweet that your husband offered to show how to sew. I'm impressed! I can't sew worth a stitch. I can make jewelry with a needle and thread, but forget material. Lol. Cute cell phone purse.

  22. I love that Dave uses his feminine side. Dan can sew too - he helped me make our Christmas tree skirt. He sewed all the curved lines. I also love that he isn't afraid to take the time to show the kids. That takes a lot of patience.

I heart comments! Just one rule that I'm sure your momma taught you...if you don't have anything nice to say...please don't say anything at all!
